Tip A Player (TAP) exists to deliver financial support to Division I athletes, because we believe they’ve all earned it. All Division I athletes that TAP identifies each year will have a TAP page that can be activated by signing a Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) agreement with the company. Athletes with active pages will receive monthly distributions of tips made in their name, as well as a proportional share of tips directed to their team. At the end of each month, TAP distributes to athletes who have signed NIL agreements with us tips made in their name that month, as well as their share of tips made that month to their team. Since team tips are split equally among all members of the team who have NIL agreements with TAP, athletes who activate their page receive their share of their team’s tips at the end of the month even if they haven’t received any individual tips. To receive these distributions, all they must do is provide us with a video each month with a message that thanks and endorses TAP.

When a player hasn’t activated their TAP page, their provisional tips are converted to team tips, but not until the end of a month. This gives athletes who receive provisional tips time to activate their page and receive their tips. If no members of a team have active TAP pages at the end of a month, those tips are converted to the TAP general fund for future use by the company.

Athletes receive 90% of each tip made in their name, while sharing 10% of their individual tips with their teammates. TAP does not take any portion of tips. Our costs are covered by fans, who are assessed a 20% checkout fee when they give money to TAP in the name of a player or team.

Team TAPS are tips given to an entire team and are shared equally among athletes on the team who have activated their pages. Team TAPs are $5 each, and each Team TAP pushes a team closer to the top of the TAPBOARD, and greater bragging rights. Go to TAPBOARD page

Fans can take pride in knowing that they helped their team succeed, and the knowledge and recognition that they did their part to financially support college athletes who are not compensated by their schools for performance. We encourage fans to announce on their own social media, “I just tipped Student-Athlete XYZ through Tip a Player.” There is no good or service provided from TAP to fans who tip. A tip is a payment to TAP in the name of a player or a team, which TAP makes all possible efforts to pass along to each respective player.

TAP exists to deliver compensation to athletes, not to connect them to additional sponsorship opportunities. If you would like to connect to a specific player, we encourage you to reach out to their respective athletic department, which likely has an NIL program to help players make direct connections.
